Occasionally people apply to join this Forum, wanting to give away an old. So it sits next to an m-100 and Leslie 125 (the 145 needs a trip to Goff. I hear snatches of 'Jupiter Hollow' or another Band song and think twice. Can't mistake it.Д®very time I think I'll sell it and pick up the Hammond XK system I have second thoughts.

It's the world's most expensive and comfortable (great luxurious bench!) GM player plus organ. I own one a recent model Lowrey (inheritance). It's a mind-fuck, but our devoted customers never seemed to care.ДЄnd I never put a gun to anyone's head to buy. Imagine if today you went into Guitar Center, bought a Roland V-Piano, and the salesguy promised that if you wanted to trade up to, say, an Oasys in a year, you'd get your $6k back in full. To the average consumer that sounds pretty good. The beautiful thing about the Lowrey mark-up (100% at our store) was that we were able to do things like offer full-purchase-price on many trades. This made for extremely musical pitch bends. My favorite feature was the legato-touch portamento. (They finally admitted that their theater-organ fan base was dying out.) The programmed rhythm cartridges were well done, and it had a touch-sensitive rail below the keyboard that would activate fills, etc. The Genius series was also pretty cool, with a streamlined design, a radical departure for Lowrey.

When I was allowed to play with more than two fingers, the Holiday was a good choice.

The kick drum was full and punchy and the side stick had a really nice in-your-face thwock. As far as sound, my favorite of the bunch was the Holiday D325, with a real Leslie and a rhythm box that swung pretty hard for a home organ. The Cotillion had amazing lights, as did the outrageously priced MX-1. They were never as cheesy or expensive as Wersi. Yeah, they weren't much on style, but Lowrey always aimed for the theatre organ market-bells, whistles, blinking lights.
